PRECAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS For Waxing: Please read these valuable guidelines. Sunburned, irritated or areas with open skin cannot be waxed. Moles cannot be waxed. Face Waxing - You must wait a minimum of 14 days before waxing after injectables, a light chemical peel, Microdermabrasion and other advanced exfoliation treatments. Waxing cannot be performed if you have been in a tanning booth the same day. Hair needs to be 1/4-1/2 inch in length (approx 3 weeks of growth since last shave) Certain medications and skin care products affect the skin and can prevent you from being waxed please let your technician know before booking. Body waxing- wear loose fitting clothing.
Waxing Post Care
-No sun/tanning booths for 2 days following a waxing treatment. Extra precaution should be taken if using tanning accelerators. Wait 2-3 days to wax before/after tanning with accelerators. -No hot baths/hot tubs/saunas  for 24 hours following a body waxing treatment. -Avoid Sweaty or strenuous exercise for the first 24 hrs. -No abrasives for 24 hours following a waxing treatment. After exfoliate 2x a week. -No deodorants for 24 hours following an underarm waxing treatment. -Women may experience extra sensitivity to waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of their period. -If irritation should occur, recommend you use an antibiotic ointment to keep the area continually moist to avoid infection and scabbing. -Avoid shaving/tweezing in-between appointments.
Things To Keep In Mind Before Your Appointment
Hydrate Your Skin & Body - This minimizes discomfort and enables better results. Exfoliate a day or two before treatment and 2-3x a week after. Hair should be approx 1/4" long at your appointment. (approx 3 weeks of growth) Avoid retinols in the area being treated 1wk before appointment.
Things To Keep In Mind After Your Appointment
Area may be irritated or pink/red immediately following waxing. You can apply Biophora Calming toner, Biophora Apres Soothing Serum, Action De Gala Hydra plus, Hydrocortisone cream, ice or similar may be used to calm and soothe the area. Avoid touching the area. Keep area clean and hydrated. Avoid heat inducing activities, swimming, saunas hot tubs for 24 hrs post procedure. After 24hrs exfoliate 2-3x week and moisturize the skin daily.
How Often Should I Wax? How Long Does It Last?
Typically, you can get waxed every 4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. Regular waxing can help reduce hair regrowth. After waxing, you can expect smooth skin for approx 3 weeks, depending on your individual hair growth cycle and how often you wax. Regularly scheduled waxing can lead to slower, less and finer hair regrowth over time.
Does Waxing Hurt?
While pain tolerance varies, many clients find waxing to be uncomfortable but not unbearable. We are experienced in performing quick, efficient waxes to minimize discomfort. If you’re particularly sensitive, you can purchase a numbing cream, We recommend Zensa available at CB Skin & Cometic Ink to help reduce discomfort.
What Should I Do For Ingrown Hairs?
If you experience ingrown hairs after waxing, it’s important to exfoliate gently and keep the skin moisturized. Avoid picking at the area to reduce the risk of infection or scarring. If you continue to have problems, we have specific products available to purchase to help.
Can I Wax When........
On My Period - Yes!, but there are some things to keep in mind. Due to the hormone changes your skin may experience increased sensitivity and pain. So while it is safe to perform waxing while on your period, personal comfort and preferences should guide your decision. Pregnant - Waxing is generally safe during pregnancy, but hormonal changes may make your skin more sensitive. If you're pregnant, let your esthetician know so we can adjust the treatment to ensure your comfort. On Medications - Certain medications (such as Accutane or topical steroids) can increase skin sensitivity, and waxing may not be advisable. If you’re on any prescription medications or have a pre-existing skin condition, please consult your esthetician before booking your appointment.
